Instructions:

Step 1: Gather All The Materials

For these tie-dye cupcakes, you will need nine extra large eggs – poke a small (half an inch) hole into the end of the egg and then empty the contents of the egg in a bowl. Thoroughly rinse the shell of the egg and dye it in your preferred color (you can use food dye for that). Do not throw away the egg whites and yolks -you will need them later on, for the cupcake recipe!

Step 2: Prepare The Cake Mix!

For the cake mix, you will need baking sodabaking powderall-purpose flour and a pinch of salt – place all the ingredients in a small bowl and start mixing them. In a different bowl, combine half a cup of sugar, one quarter cup of butter and then add the egg yolks. Blend everything together until you get a homogeneous mixture, then add some lemon extract for the flavoring. At the end, you can add one quarter cup of sour cream, which helps making the cake nice and moist!

Step 3: Start Coloring Your Cupcakes!

Once the cake mix is ready, divide it in different pieces (depending on how many colors you aim for), then add food coloring to each piece. Stir everything thoroughly then carefully fill the egg shells with that mixture (make sure to spray the interior of the egg shells with some non-stick spray before you do so). Put the eggs in a small cupcake tray and make sure they stand upright, so that the mixture will not fall out of the shell. Bake them at 350-degrees for 23 minutes, and there you have it!
